Nautical Sextant with Wooden Box 4"ReviewsOverall a pretty good item. It isn't really a functional sextant, but it makes for a good table decoration or novelty. The sextant is manufactured in India, it is probably mass-produced so expect quality around that area. The sextant i purchased had tarnished edges(you can see a little of it in the seller's images), a couple of slight scratches. What i really didn't like was that the red rubber bands that held the shades looked like, well, red rubber bands. The mechanism also felt a little flimsy, i was afraid that it would break while i was handling it. That being said, it photographs beautifully. I'm not sure if the item was worth the money i paid (with international shipping) as i bought it for a gift, i guess it depends on how much you like this sort of thing. Average Rating:  |

5" Brass Sundial Compass with Wooden BoxReviewsThis sundial and box were exactly what I expected. It is well detailed and authentic looking. It made the perfect desktop gift. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. The item was exactly as described and has made a handsome addition to my nautical collection. This is a well made product that works nicely. It has features that make it a good portable dial. This sundial has adjustable legs to help in leveling the dial (important for accurate readings), and a nice collapsible gauge for setting the adjustable dial plate to the right latitude. The collapsible gnomon is raised and solar time can be had to within about five minutes. This is quite acceptable for small portable dials, variations of which have been in production for a long time. Fit and finish on this model is very nice. This gives the sun dial a nice appearance and also makes for ease of use. This dial comes in a nice box that is actually useful. These dials can be damaged easily (the compass is obviously a rather delicate component) and the box protects it in transport. I recommend this nice model. Average Rating: |
